About Body Shapes

Understanding your body shape is the first step toward dressing in a way that highlights your best features and creates balance. There are five main body shapes, each with distinct characteristics and styling recommendations.

How to Measure Correctly:

1. Shoulders: Measure around the fullest part of your shoulders, including the shoulder blades.

2. Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape parallel to the ground.

3. Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, typically above your navel.

4. Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your hips, about 7-8 inches below your waist.

Your body shape is determined by the relationship between these measurements:

  1. Hourglass: Bust and hips are similar with a well-defined waist
  2. Rectangle: Bust, waist, and hips are similar measurements
  3. Triangle/Pear: Hips are wider than bust with a defined waist
  4. Inverted Triangle: Shoulders/bust are wider than hips
  5. Round/Oval: Waist is larger than bust and hips

Remember that body shapes can change over time due to weight fluctuations, aging, or fitness changes. Many people have a combination of characteristics from different shapes.
